We headed out on our overnight trip with a private group of 17 anglers and absolutely loaded up the bags with reds, sheepshead, lingcod, and whitefish.

After we finished on the deeper rockfish, we slid into the shallows, dropped the anchor, started a chum line, and the yellowtail showed up quick. We ended up going **11 for about 21 hookups** on the yellows.

## Tackle recommendations

If you’re coming out on one of our trips, here’s what we recommend bringing:

- **Rockfishing:**

- Sinkers from **4 oz up to 16 oz**

- **Flyline setup:**

- A rod/reel you can easily flyline a live bait with

- **30 lb** main line

- **Fluorocarbon leader**

- **Size 1 or 1/0 hook**

- **Surface iron:**

- We did hook one yellow on the surface iron

- A **mint jig** for those who know how to cast the iron
